Come out on Thursday April 23rd to the Honey West Restaurant & Lounge (399 Elizabeth St, Burlington, ON) for another edition of the Burlington Slam Project. The only place in the burbs where you can find an open mic and competitive poetry in the same event!  Doors open @ 7:30, Sign-up @ 7:45, Start @ 8 SHARP !!! Your $5 cover charge pays for our feature poet and the CASH PRIZE !!!
If you have competition in your blood then sign-up for the poetry slam to win a cash prize.  Bring your 2 best poems, rants, or speeches, do it in under 3 minutes, and have it scored by random judges in the audience.
Not into having your soul scored from 1 to 10?  Sign up for the Open Mic.  Do your stuff or someone elses.  Whether you’re a poet, musician, emcee, beatboxer, singer, comedian or otherwise then have your shot at the limelight.
You’ll want to stick around after the Open Mic and the 1st round of the Slam for our feature poet: Alexandra Oliver.  Born in Vancouver, Alexandra is world renowned poet who has performed at venues as diverse as Lollapalooza, CBC Radio National Poetry Face-Off, and was featured in the documentary film SlamNation as a member of the original Vacounver Slam poetry team.  Not only has she conquered the stage but also the page as she’s been published in Orbis Rhyme International, Nexus, The Atlanta Review as well as her first book, Where the English Housewife Shines (Tin Press, London, UK) released in April, 2007.
